Algorithmity Is Now ISO 27001 Certified

Algorithmity is now ISO 27001 certified. We look at what the certification means for our information security practices, our clients and the way it fits into our broader engineering practice.

Algorithmity Is Now ISO 27001 Certified

We’ve recently completed our ISO 27001 certification, formalising the way we manage information security across Algorithmity.

Security has always been an integral part of how we work. The certification brings the practices and controls we already have in place into a defined framework and provides an independent assessment of how we manage information security across the organisation.

As Algorithmity has grown, so has the complexity of the products, systems and environments we work with. ISO 27001 was a natural step in making sure our approach continues to support that growth.

Why this matters

As an engineering partner, we work inside our clients’ technical environments and handle information that is important to their businesses. Depending on the engagement, this can include source code, development environments, cloud infrastructure, documentation, internal tools and other business information.

Managing that access and information consistently becomes increasingly important as the number and complexity of those environments grows. ISO 27001 gives us a structured approach to areas such as access management, information handling, security responsibilities, incident management and risk assessment.

For our clients, this provides an independently assessed reference point when evaluating an engineering partner, particularly where security requirements, compliance processes or customer expectations are involved. It also gives us a clearer basis for maintaining and improving the way we handle these responsibilities internally.

Part of a broader engineering practice

ISO 27001 is one part of how we approach engineering at Algorithmity. It sits alongside the practices our teams use every day, rather than being something separate from the way we build and support software.

Security considerations are present throughout our work, from the environments our teams use and the access they require to the way we handle client information and work with third-party services.

The same applies to the engineering practices around the products themselves. Code review, testing, documentation, deployment, monitoring and maintainability all play a role in building software that can be operated reliably over time.

The certification gives us a defined framework for the information security side of this work, while the broader engineering practice continues to cover everything involved in building and supporting software for our clients.

A natural next step

We didn’t pursue ISO 27001 because security was becoming important to us. It was already part of the way we operated, and the certification gave us an opportunity to examine those practices in greater detail, bring them together and have them assessed against an internationally recognised standard.

It is an important addition to the way we work, but it is only one part of it. As our teams, technology and client environments continue to evolve, we’ll continue to review the practices that support the way we build and operate software.

For our clients, that means working with an engineering partner that has a defined and independently assessed approach to information security alongside the broader engineering practices that support their products.
